Empresas Team Hosts "Conectemos" - First In-Person Networking Event Since the Pandemic Began

On October 20, at Livi's Taqueria, our Empresas Small Business Development team hosted their first in-person event since the pandemic ended to connect and work with Tigard's Latine community.

Our Empresas Small Business Development Program focuses on supporting startup and existing “micro-businesses” - businesses with less than five employees - from diverse industries. The team provides participants with training, one-on-one coaching, networking experience, technical assistance, and access to capital.

Conectemos was attended by twenty-five people, divided into three categories:

  • Experts: microlenders, accountants, brokers, and City of Tigard representatives.

  • Established Tigard businesses: to allow them to learn more about our programs.

  • People interested in opening businesses in this area: to encourage them to participate in our network events, workshops, and training.

Before beginning the activities scheduled for the event, the participants ate delicious food together, prepared by Livi’s Taqueria, and enjoyed the excellent atmosphere of the place.

Mariana Beyer, Business Coach and Training Specialist at Adelante Mujeres, led a coaching activity where the attendees could learn and understand more about our programs, workshops, and services at Adelante Mujeres. Then, everybody in the room met during a "speed dating" conversation to learn more about each other’s businesses. They shared contact information and left with a broader network which is one of the primary keys to success as entrepreneurs.

“These networking events seem wonderful to me because they make you feel Adelante Mujeres' support to businesses in the community.” -Patricia Hernandez

The next networking event will be in June, 2023. Stay tuned for more details! For more information about Empresas courses and events you can visit our website or send us an email to empresas@adelantemujeres.org.
