Adelante Mujeres Statement on the Crisis in Israel/Palestine
At Adelante Mujeres, we believe everyone has a responsibility to cultivate a peaceful community and a healthy planet. As an organization that focuses on the Latine and immigrant community in Oregon, we approach this matter with humility and hope, and acknowledge we are not experts on global issues.
However, the continued systematic destruction in the Gaza Strip deeply affects us. We feel grief and despair when we see reflections of our own families in the faces of those experiencing horrific violence. These tragic human rights violations and crimes against humanity are unacceptable. We must take a stance.
Adelante Mujeres would like to join other organizations, community members, and allies to demand a prompt and immediate ceasefire in Gaza. We will work internally and with our community to educate ourselves on these issues while combating antisemitism and Islamophobia.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.” All of us have the right to feel safe. All of us deserve dignity, security, and wellbeing, and those are things that no war, let alone genocide, can achieve.
Stand with us by reaching out to Congress today, urging them to endorse a ceasefire.

En Adelante Mujeres creemos que todos tenemos la responsabilidad de cultivar una comunidad pacífica y un planeta saludable. Como organización que trabaja por la comunidad latina e inmigrante en Oregón, abordamos este asunto con humildad y esperanza, y reconocemos que no somos expertos en temas globales.
Sin embargo, la continua destrucción sistemática en la Franja de Gaza nos afecta profundamente. Sentimos dolor y desesperación cuando vemos el reflejo de nuestras propias familias en los rostros de quienes sufren una violencia aterradora. Adelante Mujeres quisiera unirse a otras organizaciones, miembros de la comunidad y aliados para exigir un rápido e inmediato alto el fuego en Gaza. Trabajaremos internamente y alentaremos a nuestra comunidad a educarse sobre estos temas, y entretanto rechazamos el antisemitismo y la islamofobia.
La Declaración Universal de Derechos Humanos establece que “todo individuo tiene derecho a la vida, a la libertad y a la seguridad de su persona”. Todos tenemos derecho a sentirnos seguros. Todos merecemos dignidad, seguridad y bienestar, elementos que ninguna guerra, y mucho menos el genocidio, puede lograr.
