Adelante Mujeres supported advocacy activities during Spring 2022

May Day

On May Day, Adelante Mujeres participated in the International Workers Day, where immigrant workers are celebrated and commemorated. This May Day event gathered 400 people in front of the Salem Capital to celebrate immigrant rights legislative wins and advocate for comprehensive immigration reform. Adelante Mujeres organized a delegation of 30 plus immigrant families from Washinton County to attend the event. Some Adelante Mujeres staff and participants supported the security team as speakers, MC's and part of the logistics group.

 

Free Them All Caravan to Tacoma, WA

On May 15th, a group of immigrant rights advocates from various parts of the state of Oregon joined a caravan to the Tacoma Detention Center to ask for justice and the liberation of all people in detention. More than 40 people joined the caravan, including some Adelante Mujeres staff who, in collaboration with partners, helped the coordination of this annual action. Powerful testimonies were heard from people inside the dentation center and testimonies from their families' members who were at the event.
